What is the settling-in process?

To help your child feel safe and confident, we offer five gentle settling sessions before their first full day. These visits give them time to explore, meet their key person, and get used to the routine, all at their own pace.

It’s also a great chance for you to share anything that will help us understand your child’s needs, interests, and comforts.

What happens during the first visit?

You’ll both be welcomed into the nursery and introduced to your child’s key person.

You’ll spend relaxed time together in the room, helping your child explore and feel secure.

When ready, you’ll step out for a short period so your child can begin building confidence with their key person and the team.

How do you support children’s intimate care needs?

Nappy changing, toileting, and other personal care routines happen throughout the day with dignity, privacy, and sensitivity.

Where possible, your child’s key person or a familiar team member will carry out their care.

Will my child go on outings?

Yes! Being on the Loughborough University campus gives us wonderful opportunities for safe, engaging trips. Outings build confidence, language, independence, and curiosity.

All outings are fully risk-assessed, inclusive, and planned with each child’s needs in mind. You can update outing permissions anytime through our parent app.

Can you support allergies or special diets?

Absolutely. Our team and nursery cook work closely to provide safe alternatives and tailored meals.

Children with allergies or medical dietary needs will have an individual care plan. Please give all dietary details in writing before your child starts - and update us with any changes.

When are nursery fees due and how can I pay?

Fees are paid monthly in advance. Invoices go out on the first working day of the month and must be cleared by the 10th.

We accept:

  • Bank transfer
  • Childcare Vouchers
  • Tax-Free Childcare
  • Salary Sacrifice (LU employees)

What if I can’t collect my child?

Just let us know as soon as possible.

Children can only be collected by authorised adults recorded on our system (with a name, photo, and password). If someone new is collecting, we’ll need their name and a password from you. They must show/give the password on arrival.

Collectors must be 18+.

What if my child is unwell?

If your child is poorly, please keep them at home so they can rest and to help prevent illness spreading.

We follow Department of Health guidance for exclusion periods.

If your child becomes unwell at nursery, we’ll contact you to collect them.

What if my child needs medication?

If your child develops a temperature but is otherwise well, we’ll contact you to ask whether we should give paracetamol.

We’ll monitor them for 30 minutes, and if their temperature doesn’t improve, we’ll ask you to collect them.

If your child needs medication during the day (prescribed and they’re well enough to attend), please bring it to the nursery and speak with staff on arrival.

Are there any sign-up fees?

Yes, to secure your child’s place, we require a signed contract, the settling-in fee, and a non-refundable registration fee.

Do you accept government-funded childcare hours?

Yes! We offer both 15-hour and 30-hour funding.

Eligible families can claim funded hours from the term after their child turns nine months. You can check your eligibility on the Best Start in Life website.

What happens if my child is absent?

Please let us know via the parent app, phone, or email, and share the reason for the absence.

If we haven’t heard from you by 1:00pm, we’ll get in touch to check everything is okay, as part of our safeguarding procedure.

Please note: absent days are still chargeable.
