Maths in Motion

Last week, we were thrilled to welcome so many parents and carers to our Maths in Motion events. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, your presence, enthusiasm, and willingness to get stuck into playful maths activities made the sessions truly special.

At our nursery, we believe that children learn best when the key adults in their lives work together. Parents are a child’s first and most influential educator, and when we join forces, we create rich, meaningful learning experiences that help children thrive. Seeing families and practitioners engaging side by side during Maths in Motion was a powerful reminder of just how valuable this partnership is.

Throughout the week, children explored maths in fun, active, hands on ways of measuring, sorting, counting, problem solving, pattern making, and discovering mathematical ideas through movement. From rolling balls down ramps to comparing speeds, from building height towers to estimating distances, every activity was designed to show that maths isn’t just something we teach it’s something we experience.

What made these sessions exceptional was the shared joy between children and their parents. The laughter, conversations, and lightbulb moments highlighted how playful interactions at home can be just as impactful as those in the nursery. By joining in, you model curiosity and confidence, two essential building blocks for early mathematical thinking.

We are incredibly proud of the strong, trusting relationships we have with our families. Events like Maths in Motion strengthen that bond, reminding us that learning becomes more powerful when children feel supported by a whole community cheering them on.
